About Username Searcher

Username Searcher is a free set of username tools. You can search one username across 1,000+ sites, check whether a handle is still free to claim, and get username ideas that actually follow each platform’s rules.

We built it because picking or finding a username is more annoying than it should be. You think of a name, try it on Instagram, find it’s taken, try a variation, then do it all again on TikTok and Discord. We wanted one place where that takes seconds instead of half an hour, without signing up for anything.

Who Runs This Site

Username Searcher is built and run by Shees Malik, who maintains the search, checker and generator tools and writes everything published here.

We’re independent and not connected to any of the platforms our tools check.

How Our Tools Work

Username search. When you search a username, we check each supported platform’s public profile address for that name, for example instagram.com/name. If a public profile loads, the result shows Found with a link. If nothing is there, it shows Available. If a platform is limiting automated checks at that moment, we show Unknown rather than guessing.

Checkers. Our platform checkers, such as the Instagram username checker, do the same check for a single platform. They also apply that platform’s username rules and suggest close variations when a name is taken.

Generators. Our username generator and platform generators build ideas from the words you give them and the style you pick. They only suggest names that fit each platform’s rules, and check each one so you can see what’s free.

What Our Tools Can’t Do

We’d rather be upfront about the limits:

  • We only see public information. We can’t see private messages, private posts or anything behind a login, and we never ask for your password.
  • An “Available” result isn’t a guarantee. Platforms can hold names from deactivated, deleted, banned or reserved accounts that don’t show a public profile.
  • A matching username doesn’t prove who owns an account. People reuse names, and copycat accounts exist.
  • Platforms change their rules and pages often. We review our coverage regularly, but results can lag behind a change.

Each tool page explains its own limits in more detail.

Privacy and Responsible Use

We don’t require an account, and we don’t save your searches against your identity. You can read the details in our Privacy Policy.

Our tools are for checking your own accounts, choosing a new username, protecting a brand and verifying handles you’ve been given. They aren’t for stalking, harassing or targeting anyone, and using them that way breaks our Terms of Service.

How We Keep the Site Free

The tools are free to use. In the future we may show ads or use affiliate links to cover our costs, and if we do, we’ll keep them away from the search box and results. More in our Disclaimer.
